THE APARTMENTS Built from natural local stone and reflecting the color of the earth, this very special accommodation is clustered on the side of hillside within the hamlet of Aspros Potamos with uninterrupted views up the gorge towards Pefki and down the valley to the Libyan sea. Cleverly restored, the accommodation has the feel of a diminutive village, each cottage reached by small narrow paths made of stones and surrounded by gardens containing plants. Consisting of 10 dwellings (studios, 1 bedroom or 2 bedroom) built on different levels, individually designed to offer privacy and each with outside patio, a working open fireplace, kitchen and bathroom. Traditional sleeping platforms, flagged floors, authentic furniture, linen and lace window coverings put the finishing touches to this marvelous property allowing you a genuine experience of the unpretentious down–to–earth Cretan life. Each cottage is individually designed and, because they are built into the hillside rock, is cool in summer and warm in winter. In order to retain the traditional atmosphere of the dwellings there is no electricity installed. Candles and oil lambs provide lighting. With the great respect for the environment there is a photovoltaic solar system installed which won the first European Award for Greece, and which now provides enough electricity for each cottage to have allow voltage fridge and a light in the bathroom. Hot water is provided in each cottage by gas heaters. There are several different styles of cottage available ranging from the small studio for 1 – 2 guests to the cottage with separate bedroom(s) accommodating 2-3, 4 or 5 guests. Open all year round. Car parking on site.
