Beaches of Eastern Crete

Achlia beach by Koutsouras - Ierapetra

It is a touristic resort at the coast of Libyan Sea. The area between Makri Gialos and Agia Fotia is rocky and there are just few sandy beaches. Most of them are surrounded by high rocks.

If you spend time exploring the area, you will beautiful private beaches, known only by the natives. The waters are blue-clear, as you see in the photos. The most known beaches of the area is the beach of Achlia (at the photo above) and the one of Agia Fotia.

At the surrounding area you can find rooms to rent and mini markets, which provide anything you need. There are some restaurants, too.

Between Koutsouras and Agia Fotia there are some beaches with pebbles that are not visible from the road.
Main feature of these sea shores is the pine tree, something that the other coasts of eastern Crete miss.
This beach is completely hidden by the visitors of the region.
The only way to reach the previous beach you've got to get down these stairs, which are dug on the rocks.
One more beach at this area between Achlia and Agia Fotia.
The main beach at Achlia, easily accessed from the main road.
