Our Location

Kato Zakros Palace apartments

The owners George and Haroula Platanakis take great pleasure in informing you that they have built a small family tourist complex in Kato Zakros. The complex is located at the top of a hill offering a panoramic view onto the plain, the Minoan Palace, the village and the beautiful beach of Kato Zakros. Our hillside location means that there is always a cooling breeze.

All the studios are single-spaced and have an area of 26 square meters and entertain two – three persons. Three studios have one double bed and one studio has two single beds.

All the studios have internal toilets, shower, and one armchair which becomes, if you like, a bed for a third person. Also they all have a small seating place, an oven for preparing food and a kitchen table. The studios also contains full kitchen tools, waterboiler, toaster, coffeemaker and also a small refrigerator.

    1. The Kato Zakros Apartments are about 5 minutes walk to the beach and about 10 to the five or six tavernas in the village. The nearest shop is a 15 minute drive away, so a car is virtually essential for self catering. There’s not much to do this far east in Crete but this is the ideal holiday if what you are looking for is peace, relaxation and few other tourists. By September, when we visited it was very very quiet. The apartments are well managed by George, whose only fault is a little obsessiveness, but this can be seen as a good thing in terms of the care he takes of the property. A bonus in September was the free pick your own fruit – grapes, mellons and figs (don’t eat too many figs, they don’t make fig syrup for no reason).

    2. We stayed a week at this wonderful location. George and his wife Charoula made sure there was nothing left to desire. Complementary grapes, a couple of restaurants down at the beach. What more do you want? Greece at its best! Stayed September 2011, travelled as a couple
